Vienna has the following four gay saunas:

* Kaiserbruendl sauna

* Sport sauna

Kaiserbruendl

This sauna is often reffered to as THE gay sauna in Vienna, and rightly so. Not only is it quite large, spreads over three levels, offers almost everything that a gay visitor may look for, and all this in a wonderful oriental decor.

Most gay guides about Vienna do speak of the Kaiserbruendl, and, even if you are not a gay sauna afficionado, a visit is well worth it.

One of the latest improvement is the brand new steam room which is now about four times the size of what it was, and offers just enough light to see, without too much to limit action. A smaller area within the steam room acts as a darkroom and is often the scene of heavy excitment.

The periodical events such as Orgia Epicuria are very well visited and provide a chance to see pornostars get into the act. A monthly bear meet is also organised and a great way to meat local manly guys.

Crowd tends to be over 30, fairly normal and knowing what they want. A portion of visitors come from neighbouring countries, such as Slovenia, Slovakia and Hungary.

The other thing worth mentioning is that Kaiserbruendl is one of the rare sauna int he world that as a real restaurant with very fine dishes.

Sport Sauna

The Sport Sauna bills itself as the young, gay sauna in Vienna. It deffinitely seems to attract a younger crowd.

Not overly large, it still has a decent layout that won’t make you feel like wanting to run out after 5 minutes.

Except for a darkroom and a jacuzzi, this Vienna gay sauna has everything.

A big plus is that it is oppened non stop from Friday afternoon to Sunday night.

Apollo Sauna

Apollo Sauna is one of the oldest, but also one of the smallest gay sauna in Vienna. It seems to be a „neigbourhood” sauna – or at least, ther are always a few regulars sitting at the bar.

They have a bear event where, above 95 kg, your entrance is free. So, if you hit the mark, you might want to give it a try.

Otherwise it is clean, as all such places tend to be in Austria.

Frisco Sauna

Is the newest gay sauna in Vienna. A little bit bigger then Apollo or Sport, but less „trendy” then the later.

It’s close to the gay area, but closes at midnight.
