Budapest used to have a very lively gay baths scenes. In its hey days, the Gellért, the Rács and the Király were gay baths on men’s days and the main gay meeting places in Budapest.

With the advent of the internet, the arrival of gay cruising bars and western style gay baths, the importance of baths as gay meeting places faded in Budapest.

Today, only the Király bath remains very gay. The Gellért bath is well worth a visit, but only to check out the magnificient architecture. Gay visitors have all but dwindled. The Rudas bath also has a gay vibe, but there, discretion is recommended. Be aware that all baths are not officially gay venues – discretion is always recommended.

Please note that, starting May 1st, 2011, the Kiraly bath no longer has men only days. Therefore, men and women are allowed  in the bath each and every day.

During the Summer, you’ll find gay men sunning themselves on the men’s sunning platform (férfi napozó) of the Palatinus outdoor bath and to a lesser extent, the one at the Széchényi outdoor bath.

Of course, we would like to reccomend our own place which is one of the sure bet to find men any afternoon and evening of the week. Oppened since 2001, we were the first officially gay bath to open in Budapest.
